tumor growth - surgery date

Sterling's MRI on Monday, June 21st shows that the tumor has grown. Definitely need to move surgery up to within the next 3 months. Grid surgery is on hold because the tumor resection takes precedence.

We have set surgery for August 24th. This is the earliest available date in August due to some scheduling with our neurosurgeon. We will have a pre-surgery appointment/exam on the afternoon of Aug 23rd with our neurosurgeon and then shoot the pre-surgery MRI at 5 pm. We'll then head home and report early in the morning of August 24th for surgery and go from there. Dr. Wellons has prepared us that it might be more than one surgery, but he is unsure of what the span of that time might be. Might be the next day, might be a few weeks later. It all depends on how much he's able to get on the 24th.

We have also met with Oak Mountain Elementary and he will start Kindergarten on August 12th giving him 7 school days prior to surgery. He will then be out of school for as long as it takes and if we have to pull him out for the rest of the fall due to other surgery needs we will be prepared to do that. They agree that letting him start is a good thing at this point.

At times 8 weeks feels like it is real far away and moments later it feels real close.

We continue to hold onto the truth that God is walking with us and working out His plans in us. We remain confident that He is for us.

Thanks for your prayers, encouragement and support.

We are close by and your kiddos are already comfortable with me b/c of church. Why don't you drop them by and take a mommy day? Or, if you need help with the girls while you go to the doc...I'm here. Love you and praying often.
